THE GLOBE

With accolades like ranking in Esquire's "Best Pubs in America", The Globe is one of Athens finest.

"Established in 1989, the Globe has been a place of charm, relaxation, and great food. However, what makes the Globe so popular is their great selection of beers, wines, and single malts. Many draft beers are available at their one-of-a-kind curved brass bar. Guests from all over the world come to meet at this Pub giving the Globe a very fitting name. In fact, they were named the number one Pub in America by Esquire Magazine beating out competition from New York to New Mexico. The atmosphere of the Globe has a rustic southern feel with its original art hanging on the walls. Bird houses, a bike and a large black and white mural depicting the evolution of wine making are just some of the distinctive decorations that adorn the inside. Ample seating indoor and outdoor gives this Pub plenty of space for friends to relax. At night, the upstairs has frequent chess competitions and live bands playing in the theatrical-like mini stage. GREAT LIVE MUSIC @ THE 40 WATT CLUB

The 40 Watt Club, like CBGB's and the Whiskey a Go Go was the catalyst of launching punk rock and new wave music. The club still serves as the ultimate venue for like music in Athens.
